Yas Esfandiari
Persian Hues, Contemporary Heart.
Yas is a self-taught abstract artist originally from Iran and now based in Toronto.
Abstract art mirrors life: a continuous practice of creating and recreating. Drawing on her background in psychology, she views the canvas as a space to work through chaos and grow. Her work is built on the reality that light exists even in the darkest times; pushing through and letting go is simply the discipline required to let that light break through.
Guided by her heart and intuition, she builds her paintings layer by layer with paint, texture, energy, colour, and emotion until each piece finds its own voice and begins to speak for itself, inviting the viewer into their own emotional experience.
Raised between cultures, she draws on Persian symbolism, especially the recurring presence of turquoise, a colour long associated with healing, protection, and the artistic and architectural legacy of Iran. It connects her paintings to her heritage, while offering space for others to find their own meaning within them.
